Risperidone acts by reducing dopaminergic neurotransmission. It is a atypical antipsychotic with mixed serotonin dopamine antagonist activity that binds to 5-HT2-receptors in the CNS and in the periphery with a very high affinity but binds to dopamine-D2 receptors with less affinity.
