GP contains Glimepride as the active ingredient which is an orally active blood sugar lowering medicine. This medicine belongs to a blood sugar lowering group of medicines called sulfonylurea. GP works by increasing the amount of insulin released from your pancreas. The insulin then lowers your blood sugar levels.




GP 2 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is used in addition to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.

Direction to Use

  • Take this medicine by mouth, just before or with the first main meal of the day (usually breakfast).
  • If you do not have breakfast you should take the medicine on schedule as prescribed by your doctor. It is important not to leave out any meal when you are on GP.
  • Swallow the tablets whole with at least half glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablets.

Side Effects

Common Side Effects of GP are Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level), Nausea, Headache, Dizziness.
